Emotions like
Ping pong balls
Bouncing back and forth, up and down
Dismal lows, irrational highs
Waiting, waiting
For balance,
To level off.
Waiting
For equilibrium
In this abnormal time
Yet what is normal anyway?
Who defines the word?
Perhaps the world is topsy-turvy
In these challenging,
Unprecedented days
Yet one day soon
The world will right itself
And we will look back
And remember when
Yes, we will soon.

“Normal” is overrated.
Or, as Erma Bombeck used to say, “‘Normal’ is a setting on your dryer.” 😉

I hold fast knowing that change is always preceded by crisis. The bigger the crisis the bigger the change. As difficult as these times are I believe good will ultimately come – I just am not sure I’ll be alive to look back and remember when!
(When I read your poem I envisioned ping-pong being played with baseballs.)

Yes, I think so too, if nothing else I hope governments put more emphasis on providing decent health care – it has been on the back burner for too long.
I hope we both live long enough to remember when!
Thanks so much for dropping by – pin pong with baseballs, maybe you could invent a new game? LOL
