Christmas has such a focus on family – which is wonderful, but I cannot help but think of all the single and homeless people I know here in town, without relatives nearby and who they may be spending Christmas with. It hurts my heart to think of people spending the day all alone. I wish I could wrap them all in cheer and good fortune. As a child growing up it was a tradition to watch A Christmas Carol every Christmas eve. It made a big impression on me. And though conditions here in Canada are far from the horrid squalor that many lived with when Charles Dickens penned this classic – there are still too many living in poverty and want. I will do my utmost to reach out a hand in friendship and goodwill to those I meet who seem to be in this situation. And I will pray God gives me the opportunity to help them in some way.
